STOP THE DEVELOPMENT

The Petition

terrible idea.jpg

This is a terrible idea.

As details of the planned development of the 100 block of Charlotte Street and the neighborhood behind it have trickled out, we have heard the same thing over and over again – “This is a terrible idea.” So many of you have asked what you can do and this is your chance to make your voice heard.

Not up on all the details? A development company named RCG has plans to demolish 11 – 13 charming historic homes and replace them with 194 residential units, 30,000 square feet of office space and 20,000 square feet of retail. The impacts of this project on the historic character of the neighborhood, local infrastructure, the environment and the community are countless!

By signing this petition, you can help us send a message to the developers and to city hall that this is not a project residents want. We are asking that the historic homes are saved and any development is sensitive to the historic character of the block. #SaveOurBlock #StopRCG

EDIT 3/24/21: The plan is currently for all 13 historic homes to be demolished and replaced with 183 residential units and approximately 50,000 sq. feet of commercial space.

EDIT 4/30/21: They now plan to demolish 12 historic homes and replace with 181 residential units and approximately 50,000 sq. feet of commercial space.
